Some Spoilers Ahead!!

Jasnah and Shallan are traveling on a ship that is carrying them to the Shattered Plains. Jasnah makes a match between Shallan Davar and Adolin Kholin, cousin to the king and son of Dalinar. They are also about to reveal some major findings from their research into the nature and return of Voidbringers and the magical city Urithiru. But enroute, pirates raid the ship and Shallan escapes presuming Jasnah to be dead. She uses her Lightweaving capacity to reach the Shattered Plains and  later on to become a trusted member of a shadow group Ghostbloods. She learns of the secret desires of Brightwood Amaram to bring back voidbringers and desolation into the world.

Dalinar is intent on setting out to make either a total peace or a final war with the Parshendi. When his endeavor for peace fails, he sets out for an all war. During highstorms, his dreams and visions continue with a new remaining days count plastered to his walls. He sets up Adolin to win shards from other highprinces in the hope that they would align with his idea. Meanwhile, the Parshendi learn of a way to summon high storms using magical chanting. They plan to use it against the full force of Dalinar that is coming their way.

Kaladin is made the captain of the royal family bodyguards. He and the other bridge four members practice long and also start training men from other bridge numbers. Kaladin encounters the assassin in white and learns that he has powers of a Windrunner and a SurgeBinder - the abilities Knights Radiant have possessed. When Dalinar announces that he is to reestablish the Knights Radiant, he knows he will be in it. He gets entangled in a ploy that results in his loss of powers and Syl as well. When he corrects his thinking and acts accordingly, they come back. Towards the end, he fights the assassin in white, Szeth and almost kills him.

The almighty is dead and his corpse remains. Some other lower God who is entrusted with maintaining the world and peace, regulating night and day reveals to Dalinar that he will be the leader of the Knights Radiant and gives him the powers of BondSurging. Thus ends the book. I felt, at times, that the sequence of events are too much in favor of the main characters. That there is no real danger to them because somehow they will wriggle out of it. Towards the end, it became a bit too predictable and the fight sequence between Kaladin and Szeth felt dragging. Otherwise, I loved the book!!

Book Review : The Perfect Couple by Elin Hilderbrand

The Perfect Couple  By Elin Hildebrand  (Nantucket #3) Published Year : 2018 Page Count: 347 pages  Medium Used: Kindle PW  Genre : Romance, Mystery, Suspense, Psychological Thriller, Drama, Crime, 2024-read.  Rating : 4/5  The ending is such an anticlimax and a let down for me - it almost feels like being cheated. I got so high and invested in the narrative..I lost sleep for most of last night and was reading all day since I got up this morning. The character development is ooof .. the characters are filled with life, credulity and fly off the page into the reader's mind space. I loved the layout of the narrative. I loved the writing.  I would have liked if the mother of the family was a bit on the negative side as well. I mean, really, having Nicole Kidman play the role and making it all cute, nice and kind, compassionate is like wasting enormous talent. I picked this book because I saw an ad that there is a limited series coming up on Netflix ...

Book Review: Gideon The Ninth by Tamsyn Muir

Gideon the Ninth  By Tamsin Muir  Published Year: 2019 Page Count: 448 pages  Medium Used: Kindle PW  Genre : Action, Fantasy, Magic, Necromancers, Adventure, Murder Mystery, Suspense, Lesbian, 2024-read.  Rating : 4.75/5 šŸ™‚šŸ™‚šŸ™‚šŸ™‚šŸŒŸ Wow. The twists!! And wow wow wow .. the lies!! The deceptions ! Its exotic and steamy! Unputdownable. Highly Addictive. Been wanting to read this for a while now! The paperbacks being so expensive, I settled in for a Kindle experience. I am not disappointed. The lack of smut - which I expected/anticipated when I heard its lesbian fantasy - is such a relief. The tone of the narrator is serious throughout. I had some laugh out loud moments once or twice but that's it. One of the best fantasy book series ever!  I think it is the prose and writing style that I had to read this book real slow so as not to miss anything out. There is action in this book , necromancer magic, fantastic games and there are murders to solve and lyc...

Book Review : Tell Me Everything by Elizabeth Strout

Tell Me Everything  (AMGASH #5)  By Elizabeth Strout Published Year: 10 September 2024 Page Count: 300 pages  Medium Used: Kindle PW  Genre : Contemporary Fiction, Drama, Murder Mystery, 2024-read.  Rating : 4/5 The prose is so good and comforting. I couldn't put this book away for long. I picked the book because it is a recent release and the title felt immersive. Few pages into the book, I realized, that most of the characters have long histories and this is a book (5th!!) in a series. But I read it anyway and it could be read as a standalone as well.. only we will not have a complete picture of all the people and their interrelationships.  The three main characters are Olive Kittredge, Lucy Barton and Bob Burgess. There are multiple books each with these as the main characters, drawing up to this one. (I should check them out. I love the author already!) So, in this book, Bob Burgess and Lucy Barton are close friends and Bob nurses a secret crush o...
