I would have to say that this book didn't give me the high from reading something novel. Its just that the killer and his motivations, needs for influencing his victims were different. But because this is a novella, I didn't expect much too. Its short and undeviating from the author's style and set up of the previous Naturals novels. 

A new girl of twelve with natural talent for identifying and seeing things out of usual perspective got recruited into the Naturals programme at the end of the book. This girl was also the targeted victim for a psychopathic killer. Cassie and her friends saved the girl from literally the brink of death. The girl, Mackenzie McBride, caught the attention of FBI by threatening to jump off a high tower. She had a dark past and was rescued by the Naturals team from a kidnapping. So Cassie reported to the scene and tried to talk the girl out of her imlulsivity. The girl brought to their notice a case of three suicides which she implied are murders because the angle and fractures to the bones don't match. They started digging into this and came face to face with the killer. How did they handle the scene ? The perp turned out to be a sick bastard that instead of helping vulnerable victims, played upon their vulnerabilities and manipulated them to suit his secret fetishes. Again because this is a novella, much focus was not laid on character development. 

 

Just ok ok. There is a 5th book coming this fall and I am eager to read it. But also wary having read this novella because this tuned into the usual MO of the author. It got predictable over reading so much of the same thing. I hope sincerely that the next book changes things. Fingers crossed!!!
