A fantastic story with a terrific twist and a terrific ending! Loved this and couldn't put it down at all. I picked this after the goodreads choice awards are announced and this book won the award for horror genre. Finished it in a day and half .. the story is shrouded in mystery and suspense right from the start and I didn't see the twist coming..

A girl who is a drug addict but has been sober for over 20 months is hired as a nanny for the summer by a rich family. She has to look after their five year old kid Teddy and is given a cottage to live in. As the story unfolds, she learns that there is a spirit following Teddy and is trying to tell a story through his paintings/pictures. There is also a psychic woman Mitzi living as their neighbor who helps spin up a ouja board for communicating with the spirit. So who is the spirit and why is it following the boy? Whats the story with the parents who claim to have come from Spain but never been there ?

Absolutely addictive and gripping .. from the start till the end. Loved this one!!

Book Review : The Perfect Couple by Elin Hilderbrand

The Perfect Couple  By Elin Hildebrand  (Nantucket #3) Published Year : 2018 Page Count: 347 pages  Medium Used: Kindle PW  Genre : Romance, Mystery, Suspense, Psychological Thriller, Drama, Crime, 2024-read.  Rating : 4/5  The ending is such an anticlimax and a let down for me - it almost feels like being cheated. I got so high and invested in the narrative..I lost sleep for most of last night and was reading all day since I got up this morning. The character development is ooof .. the characters are filled with life, credulity and fly off the page into the reader's mind space. I loved the layout of the narrative. I loved the writing.  I would have liked if the mother of the family was a bit on the negative side as well. I mean, really, having Nicole Kidman play the role and making it all cute, nice and kind, compassionate is like wasting enormous talent. I picked this book because I saw an ad that there is a limited series coming up on Netflix ...

Book Review: Gideon The Ninth by Tamsyn Muir

Gideon the Ninth  By Tamsin Muir  Published Year: 2019 Page Count: 448 pages  Medium Used: Kindle PW  Genre : Action, Fantasy, Magic, Necromancers, Adventure, Murder Mystery, Suspense, Lesbian, 2024-read.  Rating : 4.75/5 šŸ™‚šŸ™‚šŸ™‚šŸ™‚šŸŒŸ Wow. The twists!! And wow wow wow .. the lies!! The deceptions ! Its exotic and steamy! Unputdownable. Highly Addictive. Been wanting to read this for a while now! The paperbacks being so expensive, I settled in for a Kindle experience. I am not disappointed. The lack of smut - which I expected/anticipated when I heard its lesbian fantasy - is such a relief. The tone of the narrator is serious throughout. I had some laugh out loud moments once or twice but that's it. One of the best fantasy book series ever!  I think it is the prose and writing style that I had to read this book real slow so as not to miss anything out. There is action in this book , necromancer magic, fantastic games and there are murders to solve and lyc...

Book Review : Tell Me Everything by Elizabeth Strout

Tell Me Everything  (AMGASH #5)  By Elizabeth Strout Published Year: 10 September 2024 Page Count: 300 pages  Medium Used: Kindle PW  Genre : Contemporary Fiction, Drama, Murder Mystery, 2024-read.  Rating : 4/5 The prose is so good and comforting. I couldn't put this book away for long. I picked the book because it is a recent release and the title felt immersive. Few pages into the book, I realized, that most of the characters have long histories and this is a book (5th!!) in a series. But I read it anyway and it could be read as a standalone as well.. only we will not have a complete picture of all the people and their interrelationships.  The three main characters are Olive Kittredge, Lucy Barton and Bob Burgess. There are multiple books each with these as the main characters, drawing up to this one. (I should check them out. I love the author already!) So, in this book, Bob Burgess and Lucy Barton are close friends and Bob nurses a secret crush o...
