Simply superb! Loved it! Wish I had picked this sooner! One in its own class! 🥰🥰

A child psychologist,Anna Fox,has experienced severe trauma and is reduced to stay indoors with doors locked and shutters closed shut . She is suffering from Agoraphobia - fear of open spaces and crowded places. No one visits her except her psychiatrist and aerobic trainer. No one calls her except her distant, separated husband and daughter. Her day is split between watching black and white movies on repeat, excessive drinking, online chatting and snooping on her neighbors (like the invalid Jimmy Stewart from Rear Window movie). The Russell's family moves next door and they immediately catch her attention. The mother,Jane Russell, befriends her. One night, she sees something horrific happen to Jane that sends her reeling. She reports the event to police. Enter the cops and detectives. Her claims are rejected and brushed away as hallucinations of a woman abusing booze and psychotropic drugs. No one believes her - except herself. So strong in her conviction, she strives to bring the truth to light. Against all odds. With no friends. Locked indoors. Driven by a mad passion to find out the truth. Where does this lead to? What all skeletons tumble down from the closet? Can we really trust Anna Fox and follow her lead?  Who did what?

I had no idea what I was getting into when I started this book. The twists spun my mind on a wheel. Took me on a roller coaster ride. With each new revelation, a creeping fear and a chilling thrill seeped into my system. The cinematic prose and smooth flowing stream of consciousness of the narrator enabled me to slip into her character, crawl under her skin. I felt what she felt. I saw what she saw. I feared what she feared. I empathized for her. I despaired for her and wanted her to emerge victorious against a world that is set against people who lead "different" or "freakish" ways of life - especially women. It is shocking how easy it is to brand a woman with mental health issues as "mad" and "crazy" thereby discrediting her assertions and beliefs. The placement of all the pieces of the puzzle is nothing short of brilliant. It is difficult to believe this is a debut work of Mr.Finn! 👏👏I especially liked the overlap of the old movies with the narrative..like how a scene occurring on her TV matches with the thoughts reflecting in her mind and emotions swirling in her heart! 🤘🤘👏

Although,in some aspects, this might feel like a mash up of different succesful old movies and finds a parallel with 'The Girl on the Train', the similarities don't go very far. This story gives a startling and unsettling experience that pushes all other thoughts and comparisons to the background ! 🤪🤪👍👍 Great work!

The Thorn Birds by Colleen McCullough book review

The Thorn Birds  By Colleen McCullough  Rating 3.75/5 Genres : Australia, Vatican city, Cardinal, Romance, Generational fiction, Historical fiction  Bah. I dont know. I felt this is just an ok sort of book. The only aspect that stirred me and struck a chord with me is the all encompassing, soul level love between Maggie and Father Ralph de Bricassart. Everything else - no matter how juicy, emotional or dramatic just failed to make an impact. The story covers the lives of three generations of women of the Cleary/Armstrong family line - their cherished dreams and dashed hopes, their hurts and heartbreaks over unrequited, failed loves..their finally getting what they wanted but it not being fully enough.. well, it sounds and feels like a roller coaster.  And whats more..there is plenty of repeat in the events of their lives..what has happened to the mother, happens to the daughter and so on..  Coming to the story. Maggie Cleary is brought up with a bunch of brothers in a very p

Valley of the Dolls by Jacqueline Susan

Valley of the Dolls (1966)       by Jacqueline Susann 510 pages (Kindle Digital Edition) Genres : Historical Fiction,  Romance, Philosophical, Psychological Fiction  Rating : 5/5 🥰🥰🥰 One of the best books I have ever read. :) Eerie, omnious and potent with nerve wracking energy. Cannot delineate this story into one subject - this is a concoction dealing with elements of love, romance, betrayal, loss, disillusionment, mental illness, mystery, cancer and deeply engaging, amazing writing talent of Susann.   It kept me hooked through out as I traveled in the shoes of three women who bond during their struggling years for fame and success and break apart once they have reached their pinnacles of success!  This story exposed the vacancy and the void felt even by the most coveted and successful people. The journey to the top is always a lonely journey and even more so when one reaches the spot.   The three women main characters - Anne, Neely, Jennifer -  have got what it takes t
