I took copious notes while watching this. I have filled three full pages on my remarkable tablet. Rich in information and a treat to the eyes. I learnt a lot about the process and practices of Egyptian excavations. I am stunned at how precious the ancient, rotting and decayed bones and objects found buried deep under sand are treated. Its almost like they are precious and rare jewels - which in a sense they are!

Saqqara is a desert village near Memphis which is also its necropolis/cemetary/graveyard. Through luck or providence, a group of excavationers hit upon an unexposed, untouched tomb of an ancient Egyptian King's high Priest. The process of digging and piecing together all the information gathered from the scenes and hieroglyphs drawn on the burial chamber is like peeling off the skin of an orange. It is thrilling and exhilarating. To whom does the tomb belong ? Why is his whole family buried with him? Why were they all dead at a time? Lots of unanswered questions and lot of myth and ancient history to draw the answers from. But what if even ancient texts don't fully explain what must have happened?

I also learnt a lot about one of my favorite subjects. Ancient Egyptian practices of mummification, journey of souls through the underworld, their plethora of Gods and interrelationships. Do watch this for amazing fun and information. :)
