Rating : 5/5 🤣🤣🤣🤣

This is the second time I am reading this book. It must have been almost a half decade since my first reading. The last time, I gave this book only a 2 point rating. I definitely liked it more now. I consider myself more evolved and discerning, compared to 5 years ago.

The most notable and my favorite aspect about Stephenie Meyer's writing is how inclusive she is with all the characters. None of them are left out. She pulls all of them into the context and it gives a warm, big family feeling. I simply love this.

In this book, many things are happening in Bella's life. She is nearing graduation. Her time to applying for colleges is nearing and she gets accepted for a university in Alaska. She has mentally set a date for her transformation into a vampire after her graduation. Edward promises to turn her himself .. only with the condition that she marries him first. He also wants to have sex (which she deeply wants and multiple times, she tries to seduce him, ineffectively) only after their marriage. And add into the mix, a hot blooded, jovial and jocular Jacob Black. He confesses and confounds Bella with the declaration of his love for her. This sets off like a competition between the two .. vampire and a werewolf. This makes for fun drama. There is more scope for the development of a conversation between Jacob and Bella and Edward.

There are some stories of the werewolves past heritage, history and evolution from spirit warriors which just enthralled me. Then the past of Rosalie and her antagonism towards Bella is also explained. It left me with a raw sympathy for Rosalie who wouldn't have chosen the life of a vampire if she was given a chance. The story about Jasper and his past.. where he was training other vampires against new converts was good. It added more to the plot.

Outside her immediate life, some evil forces are gathering against Bella. Someone is building an army of new converts and planning a mass attack on Forks, Washington. The Cullens are severely outnumbered and Bella shorts them by one when she refuses to let Edward participate. It felt ridiculous that he should forego the masculine act of choosing war against sitting it out with her in seclusion. So how does the war go? Who comes after the war and what compels them to set a date for Bella's change ?

It makes me lose faith and credibility in the character of Bella Swan (yes, the other parts about her, I can believe - strange!)when she cannot make out when Jacob Black is messing with her mind so that he could get a steamy and passionate kiss from her. She simply falls for his ruse and doesn't think a second, about his intentions. I want to call this a teen drama - but ofcourse, Edward is a vampire with over a century under his belt.

I liked the chemistry between Edward and Bella - it didn't feel overdone. Just highly improbable in reality but then hey! He is a super smart and super capable Vampire. I enjoyed and chuckled multiple times to the light hearted dialogue and banter between Jacob and Bella. But the general idea conveyed is Edward loves Bella better. And she reciprocates his ardour with enough of her own. I mean, he can protect her better and he takes her wishes into consideration when making choices or decisions - more than the young, juvenile and a bit unselfless Jacob.

The Thorn Birds by Colleen McCullough book review

The Thorn Birds  By Colleen McCullough  Rating 3.75/5 Genres : Australia, Vatican city, Cardinal, Romance, Generational fiction, Historical fiction  Bah. I dont know. I felt this is just an ok sort of book. The only aspect that stirred me and struck a chord with me is the all encompassing, soul level love between Maggie and Father Ralph de Bricassart. Everything else - no matter how juicy, emotional or dramatic just failed to make an impact. The story covers the lives of three generations of women of the Cleary/Armstrong family line - their cherished dreams and dashed hopes, their hurts and heartbreaks over unrequited, failed loves..their finally getting what they wanted but it not being fully enough.. well, it sounds and feels like a roller coaster.  And whats more..there is plenty of repeat in the events of their lives..what has happened to the mother, happens to the daughter and so on..  Coming to the story. Maggie Cleary is brought up with a ...

Book Review : The Perfect Couple by Elin Hilderbrand

The Perfect Couple  By Elin Hildebrand  (Nantucket #3) Published Year : 2018 Page Count: 347 pages  Medium Used: Kindle PW  Genre : Romance, Mystery, Suspense, Psychological Thriller, Drama, Crime, 2024-read.  Rating : 4/5  The ending is such an anticlimax and a let down for me - it almost feels like being cheated. I got so high and invested in the narrative..I lost sleep for most of last night and was reading all day since I got up this morning. The character development is ooof .. the characters are filled with life, credulity and fly off the page into the reader's mind space. I loved the layout of the narrative. I loved the writing.  I would have liked if the mother of the family was a bit on the negative side as well. I mean, really, having Nicole Kidman play the role and making it all cute, nice and kind, compassionate is like wasting enormous talent. I picked this book because I saw an ad that there is a limited series coming up on Netflix ...

Book Review: Gideon The Ninth by Tamsyn Muir

Gideon the Ninth  By Tamsin Muir  Published Year: 2019 Page Count: 448 pages  Medium Used: Kindle PW  Genre : Action, Fantasy, Magic, Necromancers, Adventure, Murder Mystery, Suspense, Lesbian, 2024-read.  Rating : 4.75/5 🙂🙂🙂🙂🌟 Wow. The twists!! And wow wow wow .. the lies!! The deceptions ! Its exotic and steamy! Unputdownable. Highly Addictive. Been wanting to read this for a while now! The paperbacks being so expensive, I settled in for a Kindle experience. I am not disappointed. The lack of smut - which I expected/anticipated when I heard its lesbian fantasy - is such a relief. The tone of the narrator is serious throughout. I had some laugh out loud moments once or twice but that's it. One of the best fantasy book series ever!  I think it is the prose and writing style that I had to read this book real slow so as not to miss anything out. There is action in this book , necromancer magic, fantastic games and there are murders to solve and lyc...
